After an incredible few days in Chamonix for UTMB [Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc], we’re back on home soil and wanted to share some moments with you from the first night of UTMB.
As the clouds rolled in and the rain began to fall, we left the hotel on Friday evening and managed to catch the front of the race before picking them up once again at the ski centre in Les Houches.
With a less than favourable forecast, the runners were to be in for a rough night, and as Friday became Saturday, we were en route to Italy to hike up to Courmayeur - Plan Chécrouit (approx 80km in) to cheer on the leaders before they descended the steep trails into the aid station.
After battling harsh conditions and even some snow at Lac Combal and Arête du Mont-Favre, we picked up the leaders at around 2am.
After some much needed rest, we then caught some finish line vibes in the heart of Chamonix Valley.
Thanks again to NIKE for having us, it was huge.
